Chapter Four
Tony was going to die from sheer exhaustion. He’d worked until every muscle ached, until his hands were screaming, until he could barely see. He headed outside to take the trash out, his last chore of the night. Three weeks he’d been doing this job and he was close to mastering it. Hell, he was thinking about suggesting changes, even.
“I heard you were working here, cunt boy.” The snarl cut out through the night air like a whip.
No. No way. Tony froze for a second, his entire body denying that voice.
“If you’re very good, you can come back to work for me. I’ll take you away from all this… glamour.”
No. Tony headed for the back door, for the safety of the club.
“I’ll cut his balls off, you know. Make him suffer.”
Tony let the door slam behind him, his breath coming hard and fast as he shut out Robbie’s voice. He had to get the hell out of here, away from his beloved Yves.
He headed up the stairs at a run, heading to Yves’ office, trying to work out what he was going to say. What could he say?
Yves looked up as he rushed in, smiling at him. “Tony.”
“He found me. I have to go. I’m sorry. You can’t follow me, okay? He’ll cut your balls off and I love you, okay? So, good-bye and be so careful. I’ll make sure he sees me and follows.” He dared to kiss Yves’ cheek. “Be really careful. I don’t want anything to happen to you.”
“Wait.” Yves took his hand and held on. “Wait. I’m calling the police.”
“You can’t! He’ll hurt you. I can’t risk you.” But he couldn’t have just disappeared. Yves would have been worried, would have felt bad. Tony couldn’t just leave without saying good-bye, without telling Yves why.
Yves already had the phone in hand and was dialing 9-1-1. “You’re my boy, Tony. We’re a team. I’m not letting anyone hurt you. Yes, yes, this is the Shibari Auction House. One of our employees is being harassed. I believe the man is still outside.”
“Oh, God. He’ll kill you, love. Please.” Tony tried to pull away, but Yves held him tight.
“He’s not going to kill anyone. The police are going to come and arrest him.” Yves tugged Tony into his lap and wrapped around him.
“I should have just run away.” He just couldn’t bear it if Yves was disappointed in him, or thought badly of him, so he’d had to come say something, let Yves know why he was going.
“I’m so glad you didn’t. It would have broken my heart.”
Tony nodded vigorously. “I know. And I promised not to hurt you. I swore.”
Yves pressed their lips together, and suddenly he could hear the sirens. That was so quick.
“He’s going to hurt you,” Tony insisted when their mouths parted. “Just let me go. I’ll make him follow me and you’ll be safe.”
“So he can hurt you?” Yves shook his head. “I don’t think so. We’re going to make sure he can’t hurt anyone anymore.
